Tryptic Soy Broth

 

Use: Tryptic Soy Broth is a general purpose broth medium used for the cultivation of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. It is prepared according to the formula listed as Soybean-Casein Digest Medium in the United States Pharmacopeia XXI (1985).

Description: The inclusion of casein peptone and soy peptone to the formula enhances the growth of many fastidious microorganisms without the addition of blood or serum. It can support the growth of a wide variety of microorganisms including aerobes, anaerobes and fungi. Because of its nutritional capabilities it can be used as an enrighment broth and as a blood culture medium.
