Tryptic Soy Agar

 

Use: Tryptic Soy Agar is a general growth medium prepared with or without blood or enrichments. It is used for the isolation of different strains of fastidious microorganisms.

Description: Tryptic Soy Agar (Soybean-Casein Digest Agar) is a general purpose agar medium which may be used for the cultivation of fastidious and non-fastidious aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. A blood agar medium may be prepared by adding 5 to 10% sterile defibrinated blood. TSA with 5% sheep blood is useful for the isolation and determination of hemolytic reactions of Staphylococcus sp., Streptococcus sp. and other pathogenic microorganisms found in the upper lower respiratory tract, blood, cerebrospinal fluid, minor lesions and other clinical specimens.
